		<description><![CDATA[	&lt;p&gt;This is indeed a sad and tragic story, and I can certainly sympathize with Mr. Simms as he goes through this. It&#8217;s not immediately clear how the registry prevents suicides, though. In fact, a common argument for the registry is it deters gun owners from irresponsible acts or illegal resale, and encourages them to be legal and safe with any weapon registered to them. A suicidal person is unlikely to share these motivations. The only rationale I can think of is to assist in locating a hidden gun in the possession of someone who is a perceived danger to themselves, but that will not always be known. If it was, the person&#8217;s licence to possess a weapon would already be revoked.&lt;/p&gt;
