And of course it’s fine if we disagree on a few of these points. Especially since it seems like we agree on a lot of the fundamentals.

I’m in the process of learning the specifics myself, and in the course of my reading I’ve learned a lot about the gun registry and its specific uses in preventing violent crime. It really is a powerful and necessary tool.

Admittedly, I can’t link to anything at the moment to back that up; I’ve been through so many links in the past few days that I can’t readily remember where to find what. But what I will do, if you like, is try to focus on sharing more of that information as soon as I’m able.

It’s my belief that too much emotion distorts the issue on both sides. I’ve yet to see how, exactly, the registry saves lives, I.e. The direct correlation between a registry entry and a life saved. Suicides, murders , crimes down? Great! How did having a name in a list contribute to that? By discouraging ownership? As long as owners are trained and tracked, what’s the incremental benefit to keeping an inventory? At best, I see the registry as a tool to help return stolen property.

And of course, the old chestnuts about criminals dint register their guns, handguns have been registered for a hundred years and crimes still happen, etc etc.

Of course were you to ask if I supported the Tory tactics about this, I don’t. I have given up trying to understand the support that party has, the same way I can’t fathom why a certain bully councillor is a fronteunner for mayor.
I’m no gun nut, but I have taken the time to get educated and licensed with regard to gun ownership.
