Link of the Day: The White Ribbon Campaign

Once again, despite a bunch of big talk about sticking to a blogging routine, I didn’t post a single thing over the weekend. Even the Link of the Day, which is the easiest and least time-consuming thing I do around here, slipped through my fingers not once, but twice. I’m afraid I’m going to have to plead “rough week” followed by “much-needed weekend out of town” on that one.

Let me make up for it by posting a link to one of my absolute all-time favourite organizations. I’ve linked to various White Ribbon Campaign projects here and there, but I don’t believe I’ve ever linked to the campaign itself.

“November 25th,” a blurb on their site explains, “marks the UN Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women, and the global launch of the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women. Here in Canada, it is the annual ‘campaign’ period of the White Ribbon Campaign which culminates on December 6th, the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, and our National Day of Remembrance and Action on Ending Violence Against Women.”

There are a great many related events and activities happening this year, in Canada and all around the world. Please take a moment to visit the website and learn more about what’s happening in your area, and to find out how you can get involved. Thank you!
