It’s sandwiched between Wards 29 and 31, which both voted anyone-but-Ford in the election (he did win a plurality in the latter, but was bested by Smitherman in the former). In 29, you’ve got Mary Fragedakis, Jack Layton’s anointed candidate; in 31, you’ve got Janet Davis, one of the so-called left-wing pinkos who donned pink garb in protest of Don Cherry’s speech.

Besides, the venue isn’t inappropriate, given its status as a former headquarters for municipal politics, and it’s close enough for each us to wander over and heckle.
