You can also rule out whether it’s an issue with your video chip or if it’s the laptop’s actual screen by using screen video capture software. Maybe with this:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/

If it’s your video chip, the program should record the problems, but if it’s the screen itself, it won’t.
