That’s totally true. During the past few weeks in particular, I’ve unfollowed a few “friends of friends” who seem to think it’s their duty to get indignant over the latest offense, however important or imagined it might be.

There also seems to be, on the left particularly, a tendency of people to read a post/article looking for things to get outraged at. I can think of three times recently when two otherwise intelligent lefties who basically agree on everything have degenerated into a bickering match on word choice, and one side has decided the other is an over-sensitive idiot who is looking to be offended, and the other has decided the opposing side is a bigot.

Ha! That’s another problem, sure. Twitter’s not the most ideal forum for that sort of involved, substantial debate.

Sounds like a plan. Of course, I haven’t really gotten into Twitter mainly because I can’t keep my arguments down to 140 characters or less. I’m not even sure I can keep it down to 140 words or less.
