It’s all part of the job
“All right!” I shouted in my big fun dad voice. “It’s time to go to work!”
And I wish I hadn’t done that, because my kid wasn’t around to hear it. I’d already dropped her off inside the daycare, and now I was leaving alone. For all intents and purposes, my great big “let’s go to work!” was just for my benefit. And yes, it was very encouraging, but that’s not the point.
My point is, that’s the sort of thing that makes you look crazy. At the very least, and certainly more accurately in my case, it makes you look a little sleep-deprived.
Either way, it happens. It’ll happen again and again. If you’ve got kids of your own on the way, then I promise it’ll happen to you. Try to make sure you’re alone when it does, okay?
