Everyone in Hamilton’s a DJ tonight

Tonight’s the big night! The new monthly Hamilton edition of Everyone’s a DJ launches in just a few short hours at the Sky Dragon Centre. If you’re in town tonight, do check us out.

I’ll be there, and I’m scheduled to do a set. Local lead Tim Lidster has put a lot of time and energy into the launch, and so have the rest of the folks at the centre. We’ve got a packed bill tonight, and it looks like it’s going to be the first of many great nights in Hamilton.

I’ll report back with a review tomorrow. I’ve posted little to nothing about the Hamilton launch on the official Everyone’s a DJ website, and it’s partly because I just haven’t had the time, and partly because we’re currently working on a full redesign, based on the graphic work that my brother Jon recently did for our print promotion. In other words, there’s plenty more to come.

I need your help to book about a dozen DJs in two days

When you host a night that features sixteen DJs, you’re bound to get a couple of last-minute cancellations. When you do it every month, there are inevitably going to be some times when it’s tough to fill all the spots in the first place. This month I’m dealing with a bit of both, and it’s going to take some serious elbow grease to fill the bill in time.

I’m not saying we can’t do it. Truth be told, we’ve been known to book more DJs in less time. It just means I’m going to have to get a little more proactive than usual.

It also means I’m going to need your help. Please feel free to sign up for a set of your own, or encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same. We’ll keep updating our schedule and letting you know which spots are still available. No experience is required, though experienced DJs are obviously welcome, and any type of music will do.

You can follow our account on Twitter, or “like” our page on Facebook, for more information as it develops. If you’re coming, please feel free to say so on our event page, and take a moment to invite your friends if you’re so inclined.

Everyone’s a DJ’s launching an official new monthly party in Hamilton on Saturday, 16 April 2011

Have you heard the news? After months and months of talking about it, Everyone’s a DJ is finally getting ready to launch a new monthly series in another city! If you’re in Hamilton, and you’ll be in town on Saturday, 16 April 2011, then I encourage you to stay tuned for details on what’s sure to be an awesome launch party!

We’ve been throwing around the idea of expanding the series into multiple cities for months now, but it’s always been a “back burner” idea at best. It was an absolute coincidence that a friend of mine sent me an email a couple of weeks ago, asking my permission for a terrific venue he’s working with to launch a similar night. I told him I’d be glad to let them do it, but that I’d prefer to go one better and partner up with them to do an official monthly night. They loved the idea, and the rest, as they say, will have to wait until the details are confirmed.

Stay tuned for news and updates! I’m really excited about this project, and I think it’s going to be a great opportunity to finally move on something that’s been a dream for over a year now. If this particular night goes well – and it’s looking very promising so far – then we’ll look at applying a similar model to more Canadian cities. We’re going to need your help to make it happen, so do keep an eye out and help us spread the word!

In the meantime, we’ll return to Disgraceland on Saturday, 12 March 2011, and spots are still available for those that want to spin. Check the schedule for updates as they’re posted, and sign up through the website. We look forward to seeing you there!

Everyone’s a DJ returns in March

Speaking of great times this weekend, I’d like to thank everybody who made it out to Disgraceland on Saturday night for February’s edition of Everyone’s a DJ. We had a great crowd, and we hosted an awful lot of first-timers and newbies, which is always a great time. Thanks for being a part of it!

We’re now accepting bookings for the March edition, not to mention April and May. You can check out our event listing on Facebook, courtesy of our official page, for all the relevant details – and if you’re the social media type, then do feel free to follow us on Twitter as well.

Everyone’s a DJ returns tonight

Don’t forget that Everyone’s a DJ returns to Disgraceland tonight at 9:00 PM. We’ve got a great schedule full of sixteen DJs doing twenty minute sets each, and it looks like it’s going to be a fun and eclectic night.

Details are available on our website, along with our official page on Facebook. We’ve also recently created an account for the party on Twitter, and instead of doing the “live tweeting” from my own account, we’ll be doing it through official channels. Feel free to follow along if you can’t join us.

Not that we don’t hope to see you there! We’re looking forward to a great one, and we hope you’ll be a part of it. Naturally, we also invite you to sign up for a future set of your own.

Everyone’s a DJ in February: More communities, more DJs

With a new month comes a new edition of Everyone’s a DJ, and as always, we’re looking for DJs to fill a wide range of available twenty-minute slots. We’re back at Disgraceland on Saturday, 12 February 2011, and we do hope you’ll join us. No experience is required – though experienced DJs are certainly welcome – and any musical genre will do.

Check out the schedule to see who’s spinning, and which spots are still available; we’ll update the list as we continue to book the night. We’ll also keep you posted through our event listing on Facebook, where we obviously encourage you to RSVP, invite your friends, and spread the word.

It’s only been a couple of days since I first mentioned that Everyone’s a DJ now has its own page on Facebook, and already the page has gathered a pretty substantial following. Not massive, of course, but enough to prove that some of you have been taking the time to spread the word about it. If you’re one of those people, then thank you!

I do appreciate it, and as the page grows we’ll explore a few ways to make it worth visiting, without inundating you with spam. The discussion feature in particular seems like it’ll be a great way to build the night and get some welcome feedback from the DJs and the crowd.

In the meantime, we’ve posted the listing for February’s party. Feel free to RSVP and spread the word to anyone else who might want to join us. We’ve got plenty of spots to fill, so of course you’re more than welcome to sign up; we’ll update the schedule posted on our website as the spaces get filled. Thanks again!
