It’s a shame about Martin Streek

As you may have already heard, local DJ and radio personality Martin Streek committed suicide in his home last night. Eye Weekly has the story.

I’ll admit that I haven’t been listening to Edge 102 much in recent years, and I hadn’t even known until today that they let go of Streek and fellow on-air personality Barry Taylor back in May. But like many of us, I spent a good chunk of my youth listening to that station, and Streek was one of its most iconic people, not to mention a champion of some great music. He was an institution, and it’s a shame to see him go.

A group has been created on Facebook in his memory, and Twitter is buzzing with news and tributes – although the Edge Twitter account hasn’t posted a statement yet.
