Happy belated birthday, Ben!

I’m a couple of days late on this one – I’m still catching up on the email backlog after Oregon, I’m afraid – but hopefully better late than never. Ben Peterson, the founder of Journalists for Human Rights, celebrated his thirty-second birthday on Tuesday. In honour of the occasion, and in lieu of any gifts, he sent out an appeal to support JHR with a gift of thirty-two dollars.

“Why?” he asked. “Because every dollar you donate will improve the odds that a child growing up in Africa will have the same opportunities to realize his or her dreams as I’ve had… This is the only gift I could every want.”

Although the day has passed, and Ben’s goal has been exceeded, donations are still being accepted at the time of this writing. If you’d like to give, you can visit Ben’s fundraising page to learn more. JHR is a great organization, and one that’s well deserving of your support.

As for me, my birthday is still a few weeks away. But the AIDS Walk for Life is on Sunday, and I’m just a few dollars away from hitting my fundraising target. If you’re feeling generous, please consider donating. Thank you!
