Witness the birth of slam tap tonight

Strong Words curator Spencer Butt is appearing tonight at 9:00 PM at the Annex Live, which you may already know as the site of the former Poor Alex Theatre. He’s part of a much larger show featuring what he describes as “lots of other great and varied performers and funny people.” Although I’m afraid I don’t know who those people are, I can tell you that Spencer will be doing a poem tonight in collaboration with a tap dancer. That in itself might be worth the $7.00 admission. Check it out and give him your best.

Speaking of Strong Words, don’t forget that we’re hosting our fifty-fourth reading on Tuesday, 3 November 2009. This reading will feature appearances by Electric Jon, Barry Dempster and Gyspy Eyes, and it will be our second-last reading at the Art Bar because of our impending move. Stay tuned to the website for bios and more.

By the way, big thanks to everyone who made it out to Payday on Friday night! The odds were against us because of the weather, and it’s amazing that we got to see anyone at all, let alone such a fun crowd. Special thanks to Splattermonkey, Vijay and Dynamite Chris Wright for great sets all around. Watch this space for news on future shows.
