Great news about BBC 6 Music

Hey, remember that time a couple of months ago when I encouraged you to take part in an online consultation that was vital to the future of an excellent radio station called BBC 6 Music? Well, if you did, then you can take a little credit for the following great news, which comes straight from the BBC Trust itself:

“The Trust does not think a convincing case has been made, as presented, for the closure of 6 Music. The Trust does not agree that there is a consistent strategic rationale for closure on grounds either of promoting digital development or market impact. Nonetheless, the proposal has been helpful in highlighting the need for a further review of the BBC’s digital strategy.”

The BBC Trust will publish its final strategic review conclusions in the fall. But for now, it looks like 6 Music is off the chopping block. Hooray!
