It’s Friday, so here’s the video for “When I Get You Alone” by Thicke

Speaking of the Thicke gene pool, here’s Alan’s son Robin in the video for his first single.

The track is based on the iconic Walter Murphy disco classic “A Fifth of Beethoven,” which is a bit of a bold choice for the soundtrack to Thicke’s humble beginnings as a grungy bike courier who also happened to be quite the ladies man. But it works, and that’s due in no small part to the fact that this guy can genuinely perform.

The track was a global chart success, and it was featured in a 2008 episode of Entourage, which no doubt contributed to a generally uneasy feeling that it’s a song that douchebags might enjoy. All in all, though, it’s a bold performance from a man who probably had to spend his young life overcoming labels like “real life Mike Seaver,” and has certainly managed to do so quite successfully.
