Link of the Day: I Vote Toronto

My wife, who can’t vote in Monday’s election because she’s a landed resident but not a citizen, brought this site to my attention yesterday.

“I Vote Toronto is a coalition of individuals and organizations who believe in creating a more inclusive and representative city. We are asking the provincial government to expand voting eligibility to include permanent residents. There are several ways the government can implement this change.

“The I Vote Toronto campaign will engage communities all across Toronto. We will build awareness and provide facts about immigration, integration, civic engagement and the health of our neighbourhoods. We will urge the province to update our voting laws, which currently leave hundreds of thousands of Torontonians without a voice.”

There’s a petition, of course, but signing it is just one of the ways in which you can get involved.
