It’s Friday, so here’s the video for “Ever Fallen in Love” by Fine Young Cannibals

When you take a song by the Buzzcocks and hand it off to a band better known for hits like “She Drives Me Crazy,” you’re bound to wind up with something very different from the source material. Sure enough, the Fine Young Cannibals version of “Ever Fallen in Love,” which closes out their 1989 album The Raw and the Cooked, is a laid-back pop track bearing very little resemblance to the original.

Admittedly, the video itself is pretty poor. It’s one of those soundtrack jobs that borrows heavily from the film it promotes, and the unique twist is a terribly overused editing technique that’s dull after the first minute and frustrating by the end. But the song itself is worth a listen.
