Currently enjoying “One on One” by Dan Haid
I got to know Dan Haid through Everyone’s a DJ; he did his first set with us a couple of years ago, and for a while, he had a good run as a regular. But it didn’t take him long to move on to running his own nights, like his impressive range of Beat Burrito events at Augusta House with fellow DJ Pete Huang, and it’s no surprise that he’s been doing some pretty impressive production on the side.
One on One is a brief but promising example of what Dan can do. The three-song debut, featuring two decently danceable singles and an instrumental closer, is a catchy and sharply produced piece of synth pop.
It’s nice to see a good guy doing some good work, and I’m hoping it won’t be long before we get to hear more from Dan. In the meantime, for those of you in Toronto, there’s a release party happening this Friday at College Street Bar. Do check it out.
