Celebrating Jack Layton’s legacy across Canada

Today is the first anniversary of the passing of former NDP leader Jack Layton, and all across the country, Canadians are honouring his memory. Many of these celebrations have been organized by the Broadbent Institute, as part of their Dear Jack campaign.

At the campaign’s official page on Facebook, you’ll find a list of memorial events in various Canadian cities. If you’re in Toronto, for example, you can head to Nathan Phillips Square tonight at 6:00 PM, where a huge crowd is expected to “celebrate Jack’s message of love, hope, and optimism.” Do check the list for details on other events across the country.

My wife and I are still on vacation with our daughter, so we’ll be honouring Jack’s life and legacy from the UK. Have a good one for us, Canada, and do the man proud!
