Weekend Mission Accomplished: Draft a wedding package
As I mentioned recently, I’m finding it tough to get as much done on the weekends as I’d like these days. I haven’t got nearly as much free time as I did before my kid came along, so my weekends aren’t the arena of accomplishment that they used to be. But that doesn’t mean I can’t take an hour or two each weekend to do a little job that can make a big difference.
This weekend, for example, I drew up the basic terms of a contract for my services as a wedding DJ. I’ve been spinning for over a decade now, and I’ve done a number of weddings, but I’ve typically worked for friends, family and acquaintances. I’ve got a family to provide for now, and DJing is a great way to do that on top of my day job. So it’s time to reach out to a broader network, and the work I did this weekend was a great first step.
To be honest, I wish I’d done it sooner! All I had to do was research a few competitors, spell out the terms of what I’m able to offer, and set a competitive price based on the rates I’d researched. I’ve already sent this information on to a couple of clients, and it’s gotten a good reaction. Within the near future, in fact, I’ll be sure to add more information to this website.
In the meantime, mission accomplished! By this time next weekend, I hope to have picked and completed another basic but high-yield project. I invite you to check back this time next week for the results, if only because that’ll put some added pressure on me to actually do it.
