Day off (sort of)
My office is closed today, because my company just hosted its annual conference. Today was meant to be a day off after nine straight days of work. And in a way, eventually, it will be.
My wife is still sick, so she’s taken the day off, too. My kid, who was running a temperature up until yesterday morning, can’t go back to daycare until later today. So far, instead of spending the day alone, catching up on a bunch of things I’ve had to put on the shelf because of this conference, I’ve spent the day chasing a kid around.
Which is fine, of course. Not just fine, but great. After three days away from home, it’s been the perfect way to spend the morning. It’s not what I’d planned to do with my day, but how often does a parent get to do what he’d planned to do with his day?
I do have a busy afternoon planned, and unless the daycare sends my kid back home, I’ll get to stick to that plan. That’s more than enough, as far as I’m concerned, and more than I could reasonably ask for. Watch this space for news on some of the results, if you like.
