I’m doing a guest spot at All My Friends (Saturday, 25 May 2013 at Parts and Labour)
I’d like you to come to the next edition of All My Friends, a club night returning to the Shop under Parts and Labour on Saturday, 25 May 2013. I’ll be filling in for resident DJ Paul G, doing a guest spot alongside fellow resident Mizz Brown. It’s the first real gig of its kind that I’ve done since my kid was born, and I’d love to see you there.
Paul has been very, very good to me. He and I used to do a lot of work together through his various Yo! Jamz parties. Through him, I got to know some of the best DJs I’ve ever worked with, including the terrific and talented Mizz Brown. And because Paul is a much better promoter than I am, his crowds were not only some of the biggest I got to play to, but also the most fun.
That was a long time ago, at least by DJ standards. I took a long break after my kid came along, and aside from the final few Everyone’s a DJ parties, I’ve barely spent any time in a club, let alone worked in any. Most of the work I’ve done in the past year has been benefits and weddings, including one in April that I got through a referral from Paul.
That’s going to change on the twenty-fifth, and it can’t come soon enough. I’m really excited to get back to doing what I do in front of a good crowd, and I hope you’ll be a part of it – if not for me, then for Paul, because I really owe him one.
Parts and Labour is at 1566 Queen Street West in Parkdale. Admission is free until 11:00 PM, with a $5.00 cover afterward. Visit the event listing on Facebook for details, or to RSVP. If I can get a babysitter, so can you!
