Link of the Day: The Embassy

To be honest with you, the main reason I’m posting a link to the Embassy listing on the Toronto Life website is because five years ago today, Kate and I met there. But it’s a fine bar in its own right, and well worth checking out. Why, it’s right in the middle of the Market and everything.

And speaking of decent bars, at the time of this writing, Cobalt is listed in the “Related Bars” sidebar. Which is weird, because that place closed down at least a couple of years ago. It really was a great bar, though.

Cobalt was pretty great. Shame it shut down. I can’t even picture what replaced it, though I must have walked past that spot so many times since. Embassy is a great bar too. I think it must have been one of the earlier ‘nicer’ bars to open up in the Market.

Cobalt became Manic Coffee, and they’ve been doing fairly well ever since, it seems.
