Link of the Day: The Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy
Last night’s edition of Strong Words was a great night indeed, an excellent fifth anniversary with five terrific readers on the bill. For me, it was also a great note to end on. I realized last night that I’d been with the series for longer than I’ve held any actual job, and I’ll certainly miss it (although I’ll continue to host for the time being). But it’s in the right hands, and I can’t wait to see what Gillian and Malcolm do with it.
With that in mind, I thought that today I’d link to one of the first organizations that the series was able to support in some small way. The Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy is “a network of organizations and individuals who are involved in and support adult literacy in Toronto and York Region.” They do terrific work, and there are all sorts of ways in which you can get involved. Not only that, but their new website is pretty snazzy.
I’ll post more about related organizations and programs over the next little while. The MTML is a great place to start in the meantime.
