Canadian Journalists for Free Expression G20 survey

A group called Canadian Journalists for Free Expression is currently conducting a survey of “journalists who believe their freedom of expression was compromised by police/security personnel during the G20 security operation.” The CJFE intends to produce a public report based on the results of this survey.

Now, it isn’t tough to guess what that report is probably going to look like; when you call on people who believe their freedoms were compromised during the G20 to share their experiences, you’re going to end up with a report suggesting that yes, a lot of people’s freedoms were compromised during the G20. But the CJFE does appear to be taking steps to preserve the credibility of its report, including a round of fact-checking for all survey participants. Those who take part are encouraged to allow the CJFE to use their full names, but any requests to withhold one’s identity will also be respected.
