Hey, you know what I think’s a big deal? This gun registry thing
I’ve been writing an awful lot about the gun registry lately, and I thank you for indulging me. As you may have guessed, it’s an issue that I care very deeply about, for a wide range of personal and political reasons. So I do want to thank you all very much for taking the time to read what I have to say about it – and I want to encourage you to not only keep it up, but to spread the word and do your part to get this information out there.
If you click the link above, you’ll find that I’ve set up a category on this blog just for posts about the gun registry. You can visit that link at any time for new content, which I promise I’ll be posting frequently.
Obviously, my little blog is one of many sources of information on this issue, and it’s certainly not the best. A lot of what I’ll do from this point forward is share as much information from as wide a range of sources as I can. Stay tuned, and I’ll promise to post those links as quickly and frequently as I’m able.
But most importantly, instead of just talking about the issue, I’ll be looking at the many different ways in which we can all get involved. I’ve already shared one or two, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg, and this is a great opportunity to look at some of the most effective ways to get active on this issue or any other.
Usually, I don’t like to come right out and ask people to link to my blog, or subscribe to my feed, or retweet my stuff, or whatever. But I’m going to get over myself in this case and do it, because I believe that this is a really important issue, and I know that many of you believe it too.
Canadian lives are literally at stake if we scrap the gun registry, and that in itself is enough of a reason to fight to preserve it. But what’s also at stake is the character of our democracy. I believe that if we sit back and allow the gun registry to be scrapped, then we’re sending a message that the methods used by the people who want to scrap it, and the lack of unified opposition on the part of the people who ought to be fighting to preserve it, are perfectly acceptable.
I don’t think they are, and I know that a lot of you don’t think they are. So I’m asking you to stay tuned to this space, and to encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same. If you agree or disagree with anything I should happen to say, then I hope you’ll let me know in the comments and keep the discussion going. Thank you!
