Also, where’s the petition about remote controls that alter the fabric of space and time?

Currently, there’s a petition on the Animal Rescue Site to tell comedian Adam Sandler that devocalization isn’t funny.

“Sandler’s comedy, Grown Ups, included a canine character who had been devocalized – a ‘convenience surgery’ in which vocal cords are cut just to stifle a dog’s or cat’s voice. The movie portrayed this cruel procedure as necessary and the animal’s horribly altered voice as a joke…

“Veterinarians, shelters and adopters of devocalized animals say this is no laughing matter. Devocalized animals face very serious risks without any benefit, not even the assurance of a home.

“Adam Sandler, who co-wrote Grown Ups, is widely known for his compassion; he’s also a dog lover!” In the spirit of this, the petition invites us to encourage Sandler to watch two short videos about devocalization, and to promote human treatment of animals in advance of the film’s upcoming DVD release.

Here’s my question: would it be wrong to spread the word about this campaign by pitching it to friends and loved ones as an opportunity to tell Adam Sandler that something in one of his recent movies wasn’t that funny? Because I’m pretty sure I know a lot of people who’d be more than happy to do that, regardless of whether or not it’s for a good cause.
