Link of the Day: Shelter, Support, and Housing Administration (again)

I linked to this section of the city’s official website back in August. There’s never really a bad time, after all, to put some thought into the issue of homelessness in this city.

But it’s gotten a lot colder since the summer, and we’ve gotten to that point of the year in which homelessness is more a matter of life and death than ever. And with all due respect to our new mayor, his plan to “get them off the street, get them into a shelter” leaves a lot to be desired.

The city’s housing section takes a broader look at the issue; it provides news and updates, and it features information for those in need of emergency shelter. But they’ve also posted a holiday season “wish list,” compiled through the help of “those who run shelters, drop-ins and other services for homeless people,” and featuring many ways in which ordinary people can genuinely make a difference this season.
