That’s not right
“Can we go to Wendy’s instead of Burger King?” I overheard a woman ask her friends a moment ago. One of them shrugged and nodded, so she threw her hands in the air and shouted “Yay! Wendy’s!”
Well, I’m sorry, but that won’t do.
Everybody’s got a right to their opinion, and the fact that this woman got really excited about going to Wendy’s doesn’t make her a bad person or anything like that. But you know what? Wendy’s isn’t a very good restaurant. It’s certainly not the kind of restaurant that anyone who isn’t a small child would have any reason to freak out about. Those are just my thoughts on the matter, but I think you’ll find that reality and public opinion will back me up.
Remember Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s? If you do, then you’ll recall that even he never seemed all that enthusiastic about the whole affair. Nobody else in the world had more to gain from pitching that company, and yet in commercial after commercial for years on end, he came off like he couldn’t be bothered. What does that tell you?
Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if I were to find out that the ghost of Dave Thomas, who’s been dead these seven years, had appeared to that woman and her friends moments later and said “You know, maybe you should go to Burger King. I hear that new Angry Whopper is pretty good.”
