I can’t stand to say goodbye

I don’t normally like to post about Righteous Melody in any great detail on this blog. The way I see it, if I have to explain a strip, then I haven’t written a good one. But lately in life, whenever heavy metal comes up in conversation, I feel obliged to point out that my opinions are totally sincere.

Today’s strip, for example, was a bittersweet tribute to “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” the 1991 Ozzy Osbourne classic. I know the power ballad hasn’t necessarily aged well as a genre, but that doesn’t give people the right to just assume I’m being ironic or judgmental when I say a song like “Mama, I’m Coming Home” is excellent. Even if I have to do so through a character in a third-rate webcomic.

I mean, come on. It’s a great track. It’s one of many. Why doesn’t anyone believe I actually like this kind of music? I got into it when I was a kid, and I never lost my taste for it. What’s the problem?

Rock power-ballads remind me of grade 7-8 dances.
