Link of the Day: Twilert

I’ve been looking for an app like this for work, and the one I’d originally started experimenting with doesn’t seem to do the job. Much as I started using dlvr.it because I wasn’t getting much support or functionality from Twitterfeed, I moved over to Twilert after asking Twitter if there were any good alternatives to a utility called Tweetbeep.

In the couple of weeks since I signed up with Tweetbeep, I haven’t received a single search result – not even for the test alert I set up for “Bieber,” which is one of the network’s most common terms. I wrote to their tech support people a few days ago, but I haven’t yet received a response, and I doubt I ever will.

After all, the reason I’m now using Twilert is because they replied to my tweet directly, and the reason they did is likely because they’re using their own software to search Twitter for any mention of their competitor. Meanwhile, I haven’t gotten a single reply from the people behind Tweetbeep, despite the fact that their app is supposed to do the exact same thing as Twilert.

In other words, either the people at Tweetbeep haven’t bothered to create a search for their own brand name, the search they have created doesn’t work, or it does and they’re just not bothering to monitor the results. Whatever the case, they got scooped by a competitor – and so far, I’m glad they did.
