Link of the Day: The Colbuffington Re-Post
Earlier this week, Stephen Colbert launched the latest in a long line of brilliant media critiques and/or blatant excuses for shameless self-promotion. The target this time was the Huffington Post, who are famous for repurposing other people’s content, not paying their writers, and being purchased by AOL for $315 million US dollars that are unlikely to trickle down to its contributors or sources.
Staying true to character, Colbert framed the issue in terms of outrage over clips from his own show being posted on the Huffington Post without due compensation. In brazen retaliation, he launched the Colbuffington Re-Post, which has “everything you love about the Huffington Post, because it is the Huffington Post with a new border around it that says ‘The Colbuffington Re-Post.’”
