Tonight: Strong Words and an art auction for human rights

Strong Words, the reading series I co-founded and hosted up until recently, returns to the Free Times Cafe tonight at 7:30 PM. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I haven’t been able to make it back to the series since I left in June, and assuming the night allows it, that’s where I’ll be.

It’ll be the sixty-fifth reading in the monthly series, and it’ll feature a great bunch of readers. Grace O’Connell, Jacob McArthur Mooney and Robert Sternberg are reading, and so is former curator Devon Code, who you may remember as this year’s winner of the Writers’ Trust/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize. Congratulations again, Devon!

Do check it out if you can, guys. Oh, and remind me to make sure that the current curators have all the login details they need for the official website; it doesn’t look like it’s been updated for a while, and that’s probably my fault.

On the other hand, if you prefer art to literature, then you might want to check out Changing the Picture, an art auction and Journalists for Human Rights fundraiser that’s being held at the Propellor Art Gallery at 7:00 PM tonight. JHR is an amazing organization, and their events are always top notch, so I’m sure the auction will be no exception.
