Big Brother is watching you drive badly

Did you know there’s an app that lets iPhone users warn each other about bad drivers? It’s called DriveMeCrazy, and it uses voice recognition to enable you to file complaints about fellow drivers using their license plates, which can then be searched by other users.

It’s not all negative, of course. You can also use it to praise and celebrate good drivers. You can even flag fellow drivers as “cute” and check back later to see if they’ve replied, which sounds incredibly sad.

“Driver data collected by DriveMeCrazy is submitted to both insurance companies and local law enforcement,” according to a profile recently published on Lifehacker. “Hopefully, taking the anonymity out from driving will lead to less aggressive drivers and help to create safer roads.” Or maybe giving people one more reason to use their phones while driving will lead to far more accidents. It’s difficult to say.

Hell, maybe the launch of this app might even mark the long-awaited turning point in Toronto’s war on the car. Time to take back the streets, you pinkos! You’re the ones with the elite, fancy smartphones, after all!
