“You do know you had a baby, right?”
“We’ve taken care of gifts for your mum, haven’t we?” my wife asked me the day before Mother’s Day. “I’m sure we’ll be seeing her tomorrow.”
“No trouble,” I said. “On top of the one little gift we’ve gotten her, we’ve got time to do some extra shopping this weekend.”
“Good,” she said. “And my mother’s covered, so I guess that’s that.”
“Actually,” I said, “I know it’s early, but I’ve got a couple of gifts for you.”
“Really?” she asked, legitimately surprised. “What for?”
“Well, technically,” I said, “they’re from our daughter.”
“I don’t understand,” the mother of my child said. “Why did you guys get me presents?”

Just another shining example of her humbleness, and her obviously amazing heart. It is a rare gem in this day and age to find someone who always puts others first. She is also not used to mother’s day, as she is from England, & I believe they celebrate a different day there.
Right you are, Adam! They do a variation of Mother’s Day in March over in the UK. But since her mother happened to be in Canada for our Mother’s Day, we figured we’d do it again.
