Hey, what if I put on some weight?

I’m thinking of trying to gain fifteen pounds or so by the spring. I’m a little under the average weight for my height, and I’d like to turn that around. I’m on the right track so far, but it’s going to take some work, especially on a relatively healthy vegetarian diet.

I couldn’t get fat if I tried, but if I’m going to gain weight, I’d like to err on the side of muscle. I’ve been reading about diet and nutrition, and in addition to taking the very obvious step of eating more, I’ll want to eat better, and I’ll want to keep exercising. A varied diet full of protein will be the way to go, and there are all kinds of ways in which I can get it.

I’ve got a schedule mapped out and a few ideas on the table, but of course I’m open to suggestions and advice. If nothing else, it’s an opportunity to try a few new things and cook a few new meals. Why not, right?

Actually, I did try something like that today. Good way to go!

Dude, as someone who was also skinny as a kid and then became obsessed with bulking up, trust me, you’re better off living on the lighter side so you don’t feel silly and chubby when your metabolism slows down later in life :-p

Hmmm… But can’t I just get lazy and thin again when that happens?
